The Arewa Joint Action Movement (AJAM) has hailed the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it describes as “significant and commendable strides” in restoring peace and stability to Northern Nigeria, particularly in regions long troubled by insurgency and organized criminality.

The group attributed the progress to coordinated national security reforms spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Defence under Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, including the deployment of high-tech surveillance tools and targeted military operations.

Speaking through its convener, Lauretta Bako, in an official statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, AJAM praised the strategic interventions of the Tinubu administration for transforming the security landscape in the North West and North Central regions.

“Today, we stand in a vastly improved security landscape where Boko Haram has been pushed into isolated enclaves, and the leaders of kidnappers and bandits have been neutralized or forced into hiding,” Bako said.

According to the group, one of the most notable operations, codenamed *Operation FANSAR YAMMA, led to the elimination of several high-profile criminal elements, including the notorious bandit kingpin *Kachalla Dogo Isah, along with 44 other insurgents during joint air and ground offensives in Zamfara State.

Bako added that other key interventions — such as the expansion of Operation WHIRL STROKE to parts of Taraba State, and the establishment of the National Mission Force Brigade in Samaru Kataf, Southern Kaduna — have not only disrupted criminal networks but also brought economic life back to once-abandoned communities.

“The synergy between various security agencies, inspired by the Hope Agenda, has enhanced operational coordination, leading to successful arrests and rescue operations,” she noted.

AJAM also pointed to significant achievements in dismantling criminal infrastructure, including the discovery of gun-manufacturing factories in Plateau State and the arrest of suspects involved in gunrunning and cult-related violence.

The group cited data indicating that between January and March 2025 alone, 122 extremists were neutralized and more than 1,000 criminals arrested.

“The introduction of high-tech combat enablers has allowed for precise intelligence gathering, improved surveillance, and better engagement with armed threats,” Bako explained.
“Highways like the Kaduna-Abuja route are now safer, facilitating trade and easing the movement of people. Markets in Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Jibia are bouncing back — a clear indication that security is stimulating economic activity.”

She argued that the positive effects of improved security go beyond statistics, touching directly on the daily lives of citizens.

While acknowledging that challenges persist, AJAM urged critics “operating from distant comfort zones” to appreciate the progress made and recognize the sacrifices of Nigerian troops in reclaiming territories and safeguarding lives.

“The change in administration in 2023 marked a turning point in our struggle against insecurity. The decisive actions taken since then have restored faith in the possibility of peace,” Bako added.
“As citizens of the North, we understand the stakes — and we salute the courage of the men and women who continue to put their lives on the line.”

The group called for sustained support for ongoing operations and pledged its continued advocacy for peace-building policies across the region.

“We, the Arewa Joint Action Movement, reaffirm our support for the Federal Government’s security agenda and urge all stakeholders to remain committed to the restoration of peace and development in Northern Nigeria.”
