How Enchanted Events is shaping the future, business of Event planning and design
By Rebecca Ejifoma
With the Event Design field rapidly evolving, the visionary founder and Creative Director of Enchanted Events, Ugochi Nwachukwu is cementing her status as a trailblazer in the space. From milestone birthdays to high-profile corporate galas, Nwachukwu has slowly built a glowing resume that speaks for itself, with a reputation for turning bare spaces into iconic story-inspired experiences. She is also using her platform to set aspiring event designers up for success, through the Event Designer Business Academy, playing her part in shaping the future of the industry.
Nwachukwu’s journey into Event Planning & Design started from a very young age, watching her mother create memorable experiences for guests, making them feel seen and special: “My journey began long before I even realised it, at home, watching my mum. She had a deep love for hosting, and growing up, having guests over was never just a casual affair. Every gathering was a curated experience,”
“My transition into events felt incredibly natural. I now see each event as an opportunity to bring that same thoughtful touch my mum taught me, elevated to an art form. In many ways, it wasn’t a single inspiration but a beautiful thread running through my life, one experience after another affirming: this is what I’m meant to do. And I haven’t looked back since,” she added.
Nwachukwu stated that she entered into the Events Planning & Design industry to raise the bar and do things differently. She noted that a lot of designers in the space lacked a little originality, and she desired to bring some more creativity –
“When I founded Enchanted Events in 2014, I had a simple but bold vision: to transform ordinary spaces into breathtaking experiences. My background was actually in fashion as a professional model, so I’ve always had an eye for color, texture, creativity, and detail. I wanted to bring that same storytelling through aesthetics into the events world,”
She added that Storytelling remains central to her approach; no matter the occasion she is always looking for a way to use each element to evoke emotions and tell powerful stories.
“When I design, I’m not just thinking about ‘what will look nice.’ What experience do we want people to have, and what feeling will they carry home? If you come to an Enchanted Events production, you’ll find a narrative thread in everything. Storytelling in design, is extremely important to me. Anyone can put up beautiful decorations, but to evoke emotion and create a memory, you need a story,” Nwachukwu noted.
Poised to position the next generation of Events Planners & Designers for a career of impact and profitability, Nwachukwu began the Event Designer Business Academy. The initiative helps upcoming talents to overcome similar struggles she faced early in her career, enlightening them on the business aspect of the space.
“I founded The Event Designer Business Academy in 2021, to mentor and equip the next generation with both creative and business skills. I created a signature programme called The Event Designer Profit Blueprint, which basically is my entire playbook from building Enchanted Events, I put all my strategies and lessons learned into a course. Through the Academy, I work with aspiring and established event planners and designers from around the world, and train them to see space and details the way I do.”
