Omolola Akinboade Brings Bridal Hair Masterclass to Zimbabwe, Elevating Africa’s Beauty Education
By Benson Michael
Nigerian entrepreneur and luxury hair innovator Omolola Akinboade, Founder and Creative Lead of LolaExpress Hair, led an exclusive two-day Bridal Hair Masterclass in Harare, Zimbabwe, further cementing her reputation as one of Africa’s most sought-after beauty educators.
The program, which ran from April 16–17, formed part of Akinboade’s Bridal Masterclass Tour across Southern Africa, which also included Zambia and Mozambique. Each stop on the tour was designed to provide hairstylists and beauty professionals with advanced techniques, entrepreneurial insights, and mentorship at a level rarely accessible in the region.
In Harare, participants from across Zimbabwe gathered to experience training that combined the artistry of hairstyling with the discipline of business. Over two days, they were immersed in a curriculum that covered the latest bridal hair trends, precision styling methods, and creative finishing techniques designed to meet the standards of luxury clients and global beauty markets. Beyond technical expertise, the sessions also introduced participants to brand positioning, professionalism, and the mindset needed to thrive as beauty entrepreneurs in a competitive industry.
For many attendees, the masterclass was more than a training; it was an introduction to a new way of viewing hairstyling, not just as a service but as a profession with prestige, value, and global opportunity. One participant described it as “transformative,” noting that the premium knowledge and international perspective Akinboade brought to Zimbabwe would raise the bar for bridal styling in the country.
Speaking at the close of the program, Akinboade reflected on her experience in Zimbabwe:
“The passion and dedication of the women here has been inspiring. My goal is not only to teach styling techniques but to empower African stylists to see themselves as leaders in a global industry. Zimbabwe has shown me that the hunger for excellence is strong, and I am honored to contribute to their journey.”
The premium nature of the program was evident in its structure and delivery. Participants received direct access to Akinboade’s expertise, hands-on guidance in small-group settings, and mentorship that extended beyond the classroom. The event was highly anticipated, and seats filled quickly, reinforcing her reputation as an industry leader whose training opportunities are both rare and prestigious.
For the Zimbabwean beauty industry, the masterclass marked a significant moment. It was one of the few occasions where local stylists could learn directly from an internationally recognized Nigerian entrepreneur whose brand, LolaExpress Hair, is celebrated for its craftsmanship, innovation, and celebrity clientele. The impact of the program extended beyond the classroom, inspiring conversations about how African stylists can collectively raise standards, compete globally, and redefine luxury in beauty.
The Zimbabwe session also underscored Akinboade’s rising role as a Pan-African educator. By taking her expertise beyond Nigeria and into multiple countries, she is shaping a continental movement that positions Africa not just as a consumer of beauty trends but as a creator of them.
As her Southern African tour continues, with engagements in Zambia and Mozambique following the Zimbabwe stop, Akinboade is proving that her vision for the beauty industry is not confined by borders. With each program, she reinforces her reputation as a visionary entrepreneur redefining what premium hairstyling education means in Africa today.
