Interview
Can you tell us about MediAID Plus and the problem it was created to solve?
MediAID Plus was established in 2021 to address systemic gaps in healthcare access, medical record management, and patient provider coordination. The platform enables the digitisation of medical records, supports telemedicine, and improves data driven healthcare delivery for hospitals, clinics, and individuals. Our objective is to enhance efficiency, continuity of care, and accessibility, particularly in regions where healthcare infrastructure is limited.
What key milestones and impact has MediAID Plus achieved so far?
MediAID Plus has supported thousands of users across multiple healthcare touchpoints, including patients, healthcare professionals, and administrators. The platform has facilitated the transition from paper based systems to structured digital health records, improved consultation workflows, and strengthened healthcare data management. These outcomes demonstrate measurable impact in improving service delivery and operational efficiency within the healthcare ecosystem.
Efiko NG was launched in 2023. What inspired the platform?
Efiko NG was created to address gaps in access to quality, skills oriented education and digital learning tools. Launched in 2023, the platform focuses on structured learning, assessments, certifications, and capacity building for students and young professionals. The goal is to provide affordable, scalable learning solutions that align education with real-world skills and digital transformation needs.
What are Efiko NG’s goals, team structure, and reach to date?
Efiko NG operates with a multidisciplinary team of educators, technologists, and content developers. Our primary goal is to democratise access to education through technology driven learning models. The platform has engaged learners across different regions, supporting exam preparation, digital skills acquisition, and continuous professional development, while maintaining a scalable and sustainable operational structure.
What unifies MediAID Plus and Efiko NG under your broader mission?
Both platforms are built around a single mission: using digital technology to solve systemic challenges in Africa at scale. Whether in healthcare or education, my focus is on building platforms that are impact driven, accessible, and sustainable. Through these initiatives, I have also mentored and guided hundreds of individuals; students, early stage founders, and professionals supporting talent development and digital capacity building.
What common mistakes do you observe in HealthTech and EdTech, and how can they be addressed?
A major mistake is developing solutions without sufficient understanding of user realities and local contexts. Many products prioritise features over outcomes. The solution lies in human-centred design, continuous stakeholder engagement, and data-informed iteration. Scalable technology must be both locally relevant and globally adaptable.
What is your leadership philosophy when building and scaling digital products?
My leadership philosophy is anchored in clarity of vision, accountability, and long-term value creation. Scaling is not only about growth metrics but about building resilient systems, strong teams, and ethical operational frameworks. I prioritise collaboration, governance, and sustainable impact over short-term expansion.
How do you balance innovation with sustainability, particularly affordability?
Sustainability is embedded at the design stage. Both MediAID Plus and Efiko NG were built using modular architectures, phased deployment strategies, and strategic partnerships to manage costs. Innovation should not exclude the users it aims to serve; affordability and value must coexist for long-term adoption and impact.
What role do partnerships play in your growth strategy?
Partnerships are central to our scaling strategy. We collaborate with institutions, healthcare providers, educators, and ecosystem stakeholders to extend reach, strengthen credibility, and improve adoption. These partnerships enable us to align our platforms with national development goals and regional digital transformation initiatives.
What message would you share with African tech entrepreneurs and startup builders?
African founders should focus on building context aware solutions with global relevance. Sustainable innovation requires patience, resilience, and a commitment to solving real problems. Technology is an enabler, but leadership, integrity, and ecosystem collaboration are what create lasting impact.
