Nigerian US-based Educational Outreach Offers Rare Opportunity for Nigerians to Upgrade Skills
Mary Nnah
New York Learning Hub, a Nigerian US-based educational outreach is providing Nigerians with the opportunity to upgrade their educational prowess by offering them relevant educational opportunities that they need to thrive in their various careers anywhere they find themselves.
Speaking during a recent visit to Nigeria the Business Development Director / Coordinator of New York Learning Hub, Mr. Reginald Ugo Nwamara said what the organisation does is to challenge those practical aspects of studies where people go to school only to get certificates and then start looking for jobs.
“What New York Learning Hub is doing by academic input is for you to have that capacity to finish a course, understand the course, talk about the course and teach someone else the course”, he noted.
Speaking further, he said, “Everybody wants to leverage on us to be able to have academic upgrade. The most important thing is that you don’t need to have educational qualifications to be on the New York Learning Hub platform.”
He noted however that this depends on the course one wants to study, adding, “Even if you have never been to school, no matter your age and qualification, something is available for you at New York Learning Hub.”
“And for those who already have either a BSc or HND and want to go for a Masters, at New York Learning Hub we create avenues where they can find scholarships that favour them no matter their present educational status. So those of them coming with Polytechnic certificates will have to work with us to get a postgraduate diploma which will, of course, get them straight Masters programmes instead of going through so much stress and spending so much money to go to the UK to get a Master degree”, the coordinator added.
“We create the opportunities for you to get certifications in your area of interest and when you add these qualifications to your applications in the area of interest of scholarship you desire, you would be able to qualify”, he said further.
Speaking further, Nwamara who averred that he wasn’t encouraging Nigerians to leave the country, however, noted, “The truth about the situation is that we cannot remove the fact that the Nigerian system has created an uncomfortable situation for our very talented youths, so they want to leave. Many of them found out that they were intelligent when they were in secondary school but coming into the university, they were so frustrated that they didn’t even love school anymore and so a lot of them did not want to do their masters in Nigeria because in Nigeria some people end up spending four years for a Masters degree that would have lasted for only one year. So when you come into New York Learning Hub, we help do the certifications that will match the standard of the course that you are interested in and we also help you choose suitable courses.”
“A lot of people choose outrageous courses just because they like the names. You have to streamline yourself to things that will make you succeed outside the country. Some courses will help you succeed outside the country, so you cannot just choose any course because you have the opportunity for a scholarship abroad. We zoom out of you the best of you so that you can get the best that is out there”, he added.
Nwamara reiterated therefore that at New York Learning Hub, learners are properly inspired and instructed to acquire the abilities that will aid their competence in the most laid-back format, which invariably makes them effortlessly desired in the workforce by prospective employers and further equips them to become successful business owners or executives.
