Telecommunications Expert Damilare Olaleye Honored for Driving Sustainable Innovation and Expanding Connectivity – African Icon of Our Generation Award

Following the recent award ceremony held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Damilare Samson Olaleye, expert RF engineer has been honored for his contributions to expanding broadband connectivity to rural areas in Nigeria and championing sustainable practices within the telecommunications sector. 

This prestigious award organized by Accolade Communications Limited in collaboration with the International Centre for Comparative Leadership for Africans and Blacks in Diaspora, recognizes exceptional individuals whose work have made significant impacts in their respective industries.

Amid a backdrop of surging global data consumption, energy costs and increased connectivity needs as stipulated in the sustainable development goals 9, 10 and 13 (industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities and climate action), Damilare has spearheaded projects focused on reducing the carbon footprint of network infrastructures.

His expertise is transforming the sector by integrating sustainable energy technologies such as call zoning and green cellular networks, and time reversal (TR) techniques to improve energy efficiency in telecommunications networks has seen reduced operational costs, setting a precedent for eco-conscious practices in the industry.

Damilare’s selection for this award is also in recognition of his formulation of an industry-wide utilized Macro Script algorithm for the calculation of primary scrambling code for mobile networks – a critical solution that has optimized network stability and performance.

With this latest recognition, Damilare Olaleye reaffirms his role as a trailblazer in telecommunications, joining the ranks of other awardees such as Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, Former Vice Chancellor of the National Open University; Prof. Isa Ali Pantanmi, Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy and Dame Pauline Tallen, OFR, Past Minister of Women Affairs.
