Digital Identity in Nigeria Is Broken; Our Mission Is to Fix It,” Says CredVerifyFounder, Chidozie Felicitas Chiamaka

In this exclusive interview, Chidozie Felicitas Chiamaka, founder of CredVerify NG, discusses how identity fraud, falsified credentials, and unverified employee records continue to hinder trust in Nigeria’s labour and financial ecosystem. She explains how her platform uses verification APIs, employment history checks, and academic record authentication to help companies make compliant hiring decisions.

According to her, over 60% of partner organisations previously relied on manual verification, leading to high error rates and onboarding delays. CredVerify NG introduced a streamlined digital verification infrastructure, enabling employers and financial institutions to confirm identity attributes in minutes rather than weeks.

Chiamaka also highlights upcoming nationwide integrations with banks, HR platforms, and government agencies, reinforcing her leadership in building trusted digital identity systems for emerging markets.

Interviewer: What motivated you to build CredVerifyNG?

Chidozie:
I constantly encountered situations where organisations were forced to rely on unverifiable documents. Identity fraud was rising, and hiring processes were becoming extremely inefficient. I built CredVerify NG to become a trusted digital layer for verifying identity, credentials, employment history, and professional records.

Interviewer: What is the key problem your platform solves?

Chidozie:
We drastically reduce credential fraud by validating information through verified institutional sources. HR departments no longer spend weeks checking a candidate’s background, they verify within minutes. Financial institutions also rely on us to authenticate identity before issuing loans.

Interviewer: How has the market responded since launch?

Chidozie:
Adoption has been rapid. From mid-2021 to 2022, we processed over 50,000 verification checks across employers, banks, recruitment agencies, and SMEs. Fraudulent submissions reduced significantly for organisations using us.

Interviewer: What distinguishes CredVerify NG from existing verification solutions?

Chidozie:
Most verification attempts in Nigeria are manual. CredVerifyautomates the entire pipeline using a unified interface, API integrations, secure record access, and digital certificates. Our system serves both corporate organisations and individuals seeking trusted verification.

Interviewer: What challenges have you faced while building a trust-based digital solution?

Chidozie:
The biggest challenge is institutional adoption. Many organisations still rely on manual workflows, so shifting mindsets is a long process. We overcome this by providing onboarding sessions and showing quantifiable efficiency results.

Interviewer: How do you ensure data security and compliance?

Chidozie:
We built CredVerify NG using NDPR-aligned data processes, encrypted storage, multi-layer authentication, and secure reporting channels. We also do not store any record unnecessarily, we fetch directly from authorised sources.

Interviewer: What is your long-term vision for CredVerify NG?

Chidozie:
To become Africa’s foundational verification infrastructure powering trust across recruitment, finance, education, healthcare, and government. My goal is to provide a single digital identity trust network across the continent.
