Guinness Nigeria has just concluded an extraordinary International Women’s month celebration hinged on the Black Shines Brightest Campaign – A thriving movement from Guinness that sets out to capture the vibrancy and creativity of people across Nigeria and Africa at large.
In line with the theme for International Women’s month, Break the Bias, Brand Guinness set out to capture the vibrancy of female-owned businesses and the creativity of the modern-day woman in an attempt to redefine the narrative of gender-based biases through stories of vicarious success and leave women feeling empowered pan Nigeria.
On March 1st the premium beer brand took off with a 30-day commemoration of a host of women who embody the bold character of Guinness. It featured a portrait series titled Women of Guinness; A fifteen-piece portrait series to highlight female-owned businesses on newspaper prints, social media, blogs, and billboards in a free country-wide promotion campaign.
During the month-long celebration, the brand Guinness unveiled an eccentric short film to portray the modern-day woman on the 8th of March. Also, as part of the international women’s day celebration on March 10th, Guinness partnered with Bella Naija to host over 3500 women on a Twitter space titled “as a Nigerian woman”, where women told stories of triumphant strides. Brand Guinness was able to reach over 10 million consumers with the digital campaign
The brand understands the importance of bringing women together in optimism and the magic that is harnessed in such gatherings. Thus, on March 12th, over 300 women came together for the “Women of Guinness Hangout” at CCX Lounge in the heart of Lagos. Hosted by Brand Ambassadors, Nengi and Beverly Naya, the colourful event featured amazing performances from Dj Anonymous, FAVE, and of course, it wouldn’t be a party without the smooth taste of Guinness!
Speaking about the success of the campaign, Brand Manager, Cynthia Ufele said, “It has been an amazing journey, inspiring and empowering women to boldly break all biases. We are thankful for the success of the campaign and hope to continuously inspire more Guinness women past the month of March.”
Beyond the international women’s celebration, Guinness encourages women to seek ways to collaborate with one other, ultimately allowing their black to shine brightest whenever they come together to change the world around them.
