Jose Pena on the Significance of a Robust Social Media Presence for Success in the Digital Age.
If you’re anyone living the prime of their life in these opening years of the 21st century, you’d be well informed to know that you don’t live in proverbial Kansas anymore. The digital world demands that we quickly adapt to the changing conditions lest we fall behind. In the old world, the path to success was paved differently. In the new, hyper-connected world, the rules to succeed are different. Talent scout and renowned music producer Jose Pena spends his hours looking for upcoming artists in the online space. If there’s anyone who can give us any insight into building a success story in this digital world, it is him. Jose Pena has the first-hand experience of witnessing the creation of leading celebrities of our times. Here he shares his views on being successful in the digital age.
Be present always.
The greatest privilege for artists in the digital age is the kind of reach they experience in the online space, says Jose Pena. The internet has, in many ways, erased the boundaries that regulated fame in the old world. Today, you could become a sensation with a 1-minute video (provided it is interesting enough). The hard work comes next, says Jose Pena. However, the hard work and consistency that an artist puts in their work is the thing that does the trick. He says a robust social media presence is key to breaking into the scene in the digital world.
The age of Influencers
The digital revolution has paved the way for influencers. These influencers have a friendly neighborhood feel to them. They are always positive and joyful and full of life. Today, anyone with the will and the skill can become an Influencer. All one needs is a strong presence on social media, says Jose Pena. Influencers are changing marketing as we know it. It’s personal, powerful, and effective.
You have more opportunities online than offline.
In the digital age, any artist has more chances of being found by a record company or talent scout online than offline. Everyone is searching online, says Jose Pena. What do they look for? There are multiple factors to gauge the talent, says Pena. I look for the quality of their profile, their online personality, their work, and of course their potential to become stars.”
As the world is getting more and more digital, the need to build and sustain a positive social media presence is inevitable. If you don’t have one yet, you are as good as being invisible. In the music industry as well, a powerful presence online can transform your career and growth, adds Pena.
