The management of ASCON Oil Company has flayed the invasion of its service station located at Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, in the early hours of 22nd August 2021 and attempt to forcefully disrupt activities at the station under the guise of re-claiming the service station.

According to a press release signed by the Head, Legal & Special Duties
Quest Oil & Engineering Services Limited, parent company of the ASCON oil, Ikem Ohia, some men dressed in military uniform, who were led by one Mr. Roy, carried out the action.

The statement stated that what could have turned to a major breakdown of law and order was halted by the timely intervention of the Nigerian Police Force, which led to the arrest of Mr. Roy, who, upon interrogation, was said to have confessed to have been sent by Rain Oil Limited.

The company stated that Rain Oil Limited, seeing that they had lost all legal grounds to re-claim the station, and in a bid to play the victim and to ultimately deceive and mislead the general public, published a statement in a national newspaper on Tuesday 24th August 2021, claiming that the lawful action was tantamount to invasion.

It posited that as a transparent and law-abiding corporate entity, it has made available copies of the order by the Federal High Court in Lagos to the media as well as the general public.
It said it was completely amazed that Rain Oil Limited have resorted to not just lies but bullying in total disregard of the law by displaying the same dastardly act, which they accused it of.

ASCON Oil averred that, “This latest action by Rain Oil Limited is an afront not just on our judicial system but the Nigerian Police Force, who have left no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served in this matter irrespective of whose ox is gored.
“Let it be known to the general public that, by this action, Rain Oil Limited have clearly shown that they are not willing and ready to toe the part of justice and truth.

“We wish to, by this statement, assure our esteemed customers, stakeholders and the general public that we are and will continue to be law abiding. Your safety and security are of utmost importance to us and we have put in place adequate measures to ensure that you have a peaceful and pleasant experience at any of our service stations across the country.” the statement further stated.

The two petroleum marketers company, had recently clashed over the ownership of a petrol filling station on Admiralty Way, in Lagos.

While Quest Oil announced that it has reclaimed its petrol filling station located at Block 36 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, the management of Rainoil Ltd decried the action as an invasion.
