President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of the tenure of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration, Samuel  Atang for a period of six months.

The approval was conveyed in a memo FCT/MO/COS/101/1, which was dated March 26, 2024 and addressed to Atang by Hon. Chidi Amadi, the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

“I am directed to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that His Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has graciously approved the extension of your service for a period of six months with effect from March, 27, 2024 when you would have attained the mandatory age of 60 years.

“The extension of your service is premised on the need to stabilise and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT Administration occasioned by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission,” the memo said.

Tinubu had on March 12 approved the appointment of Atang, the most senior director in FCTA as Head of Service, sequel to his approval of the establishment of the civil service commission of the FCT.
