Niger Assembly Passes Confidence Vote on Bago

Nine months into his administration, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has received a pass mark for his handling of state affairs from the 27-man House of Assembly.

The vote of confidence passed on the governor at a special sitting of the house cut across party lines.

One after the other, the lawmakers showered praises on the governor for his untiring efforts to reposition the state and lead it among the best developed states in the country.

They also acknowledged what they described as Bagos’ visionary leadership style.

The motion for the passage of the  vote of confidence on the governor  was moved by the member representing Tafa constituency, Mohammed Idris, and seconded by the member representing Bida 2, Haruna Mohammed Dokodza.

At the plenary,  presided by the deputy speaker and member representing Gurara Constituency,  Mrs Afiniki Eunice Dauda, said the special session was to underscore, highlight and commend the nine months old administration.

Dauda described Bago as “a dogged and dedicated leader who has shown exemplary leadership style” before praising him for including women in his  government.

Other legislators, who spoke  praised the his vision and foresight in leveraging on the state’s abundant potential in agriculture by the plan to provide lasting solutions to the state’s infrastructure needs, grants, wage awards, and other social interventions to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the people.

They also noted  the remodeling of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, the 3-Arms Zone project, the Bida Ring Road, the recently announced plans to revive and create a new Rail System within the state and the one that connects to Abuja.

They also spoke about the conversion of the old Shiroro Hotel into IBBUL Teaching Hospital, as some of the landmark achievements of the governor within the short period of being in office.

They unanimously agreed that they would continue to lend legislative support to Bago for him to take the state to the “promised land.”
