Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, on political affairs, Dr Darlington Oji, has dismissed claims by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), that the governor was planning a forceful election for the local government councils.

APC caretaker chairman in the state, Mr Tony Okocha, had during a recent press conference in Port Harcourt, alleged that Fubara’s government was planning to dissolve and conduct elections in the 23 LGAs, before the end of their tenure.

But Oji said “The tenure of the local government councils are still running, people were worried that the governor was going to dissolve the local government. Up until date the governor has never made any attempt pointing towards dissolving the LGA chairmen.

“I believe that Rivers people should be patient, at the appropriate time the right  thing and according to the constitution would be made.”

Oji also said the local government workers have received their salaries up till date, saying that the claims was targeted at destroying the good reputation of the Fubara’s led government.
