NPFL: Enyimba Kick off Second Round with Win against Shooting

Enyimba FC kicked off the second stanza of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 1-0 defeat of Shooting Stars FC.

Until NPFL leaders Lobi Stars play their Match Day 20 away game at Plateau United in Jos, the Aba Elephants will just be one point behind the Makurdi boys. Enyimba are also tied on second spot with Remo Stars who are also playing away to Abia Warriors today.

In the other game played to open the second round of the NPFL, Kano Pillars secured a valuable one point in the away 1-1 draw with Heartland FC of Owerri.

Meanwhile, actions will resume nationwide today in the Match Day 20 fixtures.

Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin will be on a trip to Lagos for the Match Day 20 game with Sporting Lagos.

Other fixtures include the clash between Bayelsa Utd  v Gombe Utd in Yenagoa while Rangers International will be at their fortress against Akwa Utd.

Katsina Utd  will also take on Niger Tornadoes.

The match day 20 between the top-flight league new entrants Sporting and the Benin Arsenals is scheduled to kick off by 4:00 PM at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Suruldre.

The Benin Arsenals are facing the Lagosians for the second time, hoping for a good result as they still revel in the confidence-boosting 3-1 spanking of their Match Day 20 hosts in their first encounter in the Match Day 19 in Benin.

With an eye on the top-three finish, Insurance will be approaching the Sunday game with caution, bearing in mind the exploit of Sporting against former league champions Rivers Utd. Sporting pipped Rivers Utd 1-0 in their rescheduled match on day 19 to end the first round in high spirits.
