Zakkat Commission to Settle N7.9m Medical Bills of the Needy in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission has earmarked N7.9 million to settle the medical bills of the less privileged in the state.

Speaking in Sokoto Monday, the commission’s Chairman, Malam Lawal Maidoki, said the assistance was part of the state government’s monthly support to the commission to assist the less privileged in the society.

“Every month, the state government supports the commission with N31.5 million to assist the needy in the area of settlement of medical bills, shelter, food and disaster, among others to improve their living standard.

“As such this month, we are disbursing N7.9 million to our various partners, hospitals and pharmaceutical shops to assist the needy medical needs in the state,” he said.

Maidoki urged the people of the state to support the newly introduced Contributory Health Care Scheme for all citizens in the state, adding that the system would go a long way in improving the standard of facilities in health institution in the state.
