Senate C’ttee Grills Misau Today

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions will today grill Senator Isah Misau over allegations that he deserted the police force and did not retire as he claimed.

Misau claimed to have resigned from the police in 2010 as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The committee would also question him on allegations of corruption, nepotism and inappropriate acts, which he levelled against the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Ibrahim Idris.

Misau (Bauchi APC) had recently accused Idris of running a ‘bribery for promotion and special posting’ scheme, of misappropriation of budgeted funds, and of pocketing N10 billion monthly for providing police protection to banks, oil companies and among others.

He had also accused the IG of impregnating a junior officer and secretly married her, in contravention of Police Service Rules.

The federal government, through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, had however last week charged the senator to court for spreading falsehood against the IG.
