Court Remands Two Fake Drug Dealers in Prison

The Federal Government on Wednesday arraigned two alleged fake drugs dealers, Monday Enuma and Ikechukwu Adibe, at a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on four and five-count charges respectively.

They however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

They were remanded after Justice Nnamdi Dimgba ordered that the two accused persons be remanded in prison custody after Barrister Umar Shamaki moved an application for their remand.

According to the charges, while Enuma was arrested at 15, Club Road, in Sabon Gari‎ area of Kaduna State, Adibe was arrested at 82, Atiken Road, Sabon Gari, Kano state.

They were arrested for selling fake Augmentin, Syrum, Alabukun, Septrin and Ampiclox.

The offence according to the charge signed by Samson Philip Maken from the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is contrary to section‎ 1 (a) of the counterfeit. And fake drug and unwholesome processed foods (Miscellaneous provision) Act, Cap C34, LFN 2004 Act and punishable under section 3(1) of the same Act.

One of the counts in the charge against‎ Enuma reads, “That Monday Enuma, on or about 17th Juky, 2016, within the jurisdiction of this court did sell unregistered drug to wit: Augmentin Syrup, Alabukun, Septrin and Ampiclox and thereby committed an offence contrary to section‎ 1 (a) of the counterfeit. And fake drug and unwholesome processed foods (Miscellaneous provision) Act, Cap C34, LFN 2004 Act and punishable under section 3(1) of the same Act.”

The case has been fixed for August 5, 2016 for bail application
