Tragedy struck in the early hours of yesterday when a new bride stabbed her husband to death in Nasarawa village of Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

The 19-year-old Mrs. Aisha Aliyu was said to have killed her husband, Mr. Idris Ahmadu,  24, on their matrimonial bed using a kitchen knife.

An eyewitness told THISDAY that the couple had retired to bed peacefully but a disagreement ensued between them in the night, which led the woman to take the life of her husband.

According to the eyewitness, when the disagreement started the lady went into the kitchen and returned with the knife, with which she first stabbed Ahmadu in the neck before stabbing him several times in the stomach.

Neighbours who heard the shout for help from Ahmadu raced to his house only to meet him in a pool of his blood.

He was rushed to the community healthcare but did not make the journey as he died on the way there.

The eyewitness said that the assailant did not attempt to escape after stabbing her husband to death.

THISDAY was told that the couple attended the same secondary school and had been dating for several years before they got married around November last year.

According to the eyewitness, both did not make their WAEC and NECO results and the late husband was responsible for conveying her to and from the centre where they were preparing to resit their papers.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, when contacted confirmed the story but contradicted the report from the village by saying that the assailant was on the run.

Abiodun said: “Today 12/02/2024 at about 12.00 noon, information was received that in the early hours of today, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu 19/20yrs of the same address.
