Senate in Closed Session With Nigeria’s Security Chiefs

The Senate has started meeting with the heads of the nation’s military and security agencies behind closed doors.

Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved the motion for the chamber to dissolve into executive session so that the senators could meet with the security chiefs.

His motion was seconded by the Minority Leader, Abba Moro. 

The heads of the security agencies in attendance were the Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Lt . General Taoheed Lagbaja; the  Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar; the Inspector General of Police (IG), Kayode Egbetokun; the Director General of Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi and the Director General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

Others are the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawale; Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam; and the  Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Ibrahim.

Also in attendance are the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo; and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.
