A mob in Abuja Saturday stoned and later set a member of a vigilance group ablaze over alleged blasphemy.The tragic incident occurred at the Timber market located at the Federal Housing Estate in Lugbe, Abuja.It was gathered that some members of the vigilance group guarding the area had wanted to effect the arrest of some residents wandering around in the market in the early hours of Saturday.They were said to have appealed to the security men to free them but one of the vigilantes was alleged to have made some blasphemous comments which precepitated the mob action.
THISDAY gathered that the unidentified victim was beaten and stoned before he was set ablaze.
Police fired shots to disperse the crowd that gathered in the area.
