Nigerian Talents Are One of Africa’s Biggest Export Globally – Olufemi Oguntamu

With endearing records of industry practice, Olufemi Oguntamu, CEO Penzaarville Africa gives us a broad outlook of the essentials of talents management in Nigeria with records as
a fast growing Media agency that focuses on providing solutions to the growth of brands, products and also manage brand impressions. Its philosophy rests on the sole fact that they know those who matter to each type of brand or product.

In a statement the Olufemi shared, he noted that, Nigerian talents all over the world are fierce and courageous; and we always like to showcase our Nigerian culture either through our courtesies, dressings, language, or mode of expression, myths and more. We express ourselves and showcase our brilliance and poise unapologetically. Regardless of how exposed we are globally, we always let people know our root and the beauties of our histories as a leading black nation, Nigeria. In return, they love the culture and are willing to also learn from Nigerians. We have seen talents across Africa and across the world, but something just stands Nigerian talents out especially when they are in Diaspora- which is the driving energy to do things differently and targeted at succeeding.

“Nigerian talents are accepted with elegance globally, thankfully for the media space. Through the effective use of social media in recent years, we found out that it is helping us positively in this line of global recognition, acceptance and interaction. It can’t take up to 24 hours for someone to just blow up from Nigeria and become very popular and become a sensation across the world. It goes down to how viral the content of that person is at that particular period of public engagement online. As a result of this, we can see that we are now having more continental tours and local tours. It is apparent that people are consuming our content more, specifically in the field of entertainment. I will say that it is a huge one now and the acceptance is great.

“There is a market for our creative industry outside Nigeria, because so many people are now interested in what we do, our contents and generally in the industry. Their keen interests in our creative juice and the flavor that we add place us higher than every other creative industry in the continent. When you find yourself outside the country, you will realize that so many people have even travelled out of Nigeria for a long time and they now seek this creativity that we have as Africans and Nigerians. Practically, there is always room for Nigerians outside the country to express themselves and to explore better. And to be honest, I feel like because we are Nigerian, we are all creative here, we are very talented as Nigerians, we do not at times know how good we are until we travel, or until we have another opportunity globally. The realities of our environment continue to shape our minds towards creative excellence.
The global market accepts us so much that you won’t even know that you are doing so well until you are exposed to the bigger world.”

Olufemi expresses the belief that, you can’t effectively or efficiently manage a talent if you can’t manage yourself and once self management is the bedrock you would be technically ready. “In managing talents, you need to be good at ensuring that there is structure and a good flow of activities. I will say that my vision for managing talents in Nigeria and beyond is to help them build a better and visible structure that is prominent to their career projections. What I have realized so far about talents in Nigeria is that everybody is just doing their own; they don’t really bother themselves about any other thing aside from creating content. But myself and my team continue to help talents understand their target audience; make them understand the kind of content their target wants and how to effectively annex that and also aside Nigeria, globally also.”
