The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, has commended the state Governor, Yahaya Bello, for the ongoing infrastructural development in the state, especially in Lokoja town, as shown through the Civic Centre (President Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre) and Ganaja junction flyover, described as legacy projects among others.
The state Chairman of NUJ, Adeiza Momohjimoh, lauded the state governor for providing a conducive environment for the media professionals to operate in the state.
This commendation was contained in a communique issued at the end of the union state congress held at the NUJ Secretariat at weekend in Lokoja.
He expressed satisfaction on the all road projects being executed by the state government in Lokoja, the state capital.
The NUJ also lauded the proactive measures taken by the state government as part of efforts to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens of the state
“The efforts of state government are commendable for ensuring the smooth take off of the Lokoja mega terminal which has modernised the transport system in the state,” it stated, noting that it is a clear indication of the governor’s sensitivity to security of the citizens of the state and Nigerians in general.
The communique read: “The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council, has expressed appreciation to Governor Bello and the state government for providing members the conducive environment to operate.”
It equally stressed the need for the government to urgently pay attention to the following roads in bad state- Lokoja-Zango-Kabba junction road, zone eight roundabout to House of Assembly road as well as the Mount Patti road.
“The state government should also revive the state owned radio station (FM 94.1) which has gone off air for months, with a passionate appeal that the state government’s approval for the radio station is graciously followed with action and with similar attention to the Graphics Newspaper in the state,” it stated.
