Foreign Affairs Minister, Onyeama, Tests Positive for Covid-19

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has tested positive for coronavirus.

The minister disclosed this on Sunday through his verified Twitter handle.

He explained that he had throat irritation which forced him to go for the test the fourth time.

According to him, “Did my fourth Covid-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best.”

Meanwhile, Onyeama also revealed that Air France conveying 22 Nigerians from Paris has departed for Abuja, adding that all the evacuees tested negative for the virus.

He said: “@AirFrance conveying 22 Nigerian evacuees from #Paris, has departed for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The flight is expected to arrive Abuja at 14:40 pm local time today, 19th July, 2020.

“Some of the evacuees are Nigerians in France, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Norway, Germany, Holland, UK and Canada. All passengers tested negative before boarding.

“So far, a total of 93 Nigerians in Europe have been repatriated in the evacuation exercise coordinated by the Embassy of Nigeria in France, in cooperation with our Missions in Germany, Belgium, Holland and Hungary.”
