Oyo Governor-elect Fetes Ibadan Golf Ladies

Oyo State governor-elect, Mr. Seyi Makinde, last weekend exhibited his love for the game of golf by joining the ladies golfers at the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) to celebrate the annual 2019 Ladies Open which came to an end on Sunday evening.

Makinde, a member of the IGC, played nine holes none competitive golf game on Thursday, five holes on Saturday and also graced the closing ceremony of the two-in-one event that commenced in Ibadan on Wednesday.

While addressing golfers during the dinner and closing ceremony, he restated his commitment to the activities of the club and development of golf by giving the game good attention in terms of promotion and funding when he is sworn-in in May.

The Lady Captain of IGC, Dr. Tope Farombi who welcomed Makinde thanked governor-elect for finding time out of his busy scheduled to felicitate with the almost 200 lady golfers that came from all walks of life to participate in the golf tournament.

She however urged Mrs. Makinde to also embrace the game of golf by joining the ladies’ section of the IGC, describing golf as a good sport and a wonderful way to maintain  a perfect wellness and improved mental alertness.

Meanwhile, a policewoman, Racheal Danjuma of IBB Golf Club won the first prize of the tournament with 79 gross while Evelyn Oyome emerged as the runners up retuning with 76 gross.

The immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Prof. Temitope Alonge, won the veteran men’s category.
