I’ve Been Singing Since I Was a Kid

Gbenga Egbeyemi, popularly known as Gee4 is an artiste with his own style of content and music delivery. His tattoos have a thing or two say about his music and journey so far. He shares his experiences about growing up, career and ongoing projects with Tosin Clegg

How did music start for you?

I started singing in 2009, but I didn’t release my official single until 2013. Actually, I’ve been singing since I was a kid in the church choir. And then, later on, I took it up professionally but at some point, I had to drop out of school, and that was to chase my music.

What’s your genre of music?

It centres around Afro beats and Afro-pop, but I just like to fuse my own thing from the pop culture like the foreign pop then blend it with the little highlife thing. I tap into other genres also but basically, it’s Afro hip-hop.

What project do you have ongoing?

I’m currently about to release a new song, Steady. Just like the chorus of the song, it’s more like a testimony that makes people see God’s blessings in you so as to inspire others. Also, I have a few videos I’m going to work on while working on the Steady video, which would be shot in the United Kingdom. I’m working on my EP and album that would be released next year.

Challenges while starting out your career?

It wasn’t smooth at all as I had to do several things just to survive. I had to juggle so many things just to make ends meet but I thank God for where I am today.
