Barely 48 hours after some suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded two Tivs settlement, in Mopamuro and Ijumu Local Government councils killing ten persons, a forestry operator has been killed by Herdsmen in Apaa Agbede in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Council of the state.
The forestry operator popularly known as Andrew was killed at about 4pm yesterday by the herdsmen. Information reaching THISDAY from the village confirmed that the forestry operator met his untimely death while carrying out his wood felling in Apaa Agbede community. According to a source, fear of reprisal attack has made residents of Apaa Agbede community to flee the town, with many of them moving toward Kabba, the local government headquarters.
The source added that the attack on Andrew may not be unconnected with an argument over destruction of farmland, an action by the herdsmen he frowned against.
The Administrator of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Council, Mr. Moses Olorunleke, who also confirmed the incident said only one person was killed. However, all efforts to speak with the spokesman of Kogi State Police Command, Mr. William Ayah, proved abortive as his phone line was off but the Divisional Police Office in Kabba says it has not yet been briefed on the matter.
