Church to Organise Centenary Celebration

The United African Methodist Church (UAMC) will organise its centenary celebration on November, 27 with the theme: ‘God of Our Fathers.’
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, the General Secretary, Conference and Conference Standing Committee, Bro. Taiwo Ayeni, said activities and programmes have been lined to celebrate the 100 years of existence of the church as part of efforts to further propagate the gospel to the world.

He said the celebration would begin on November 24, with revival service in all the church circuits in Lagos, noting that while on November 26, there would be special prayers organised for Nigeria and the world in all their churches.
Ayeni further stated that there would be founders’ day on November 27, which he stated would involve visitation to Charity Homes to present them gifts to as part of efforts to support them.

He added: “After the visitation we will come back to the church at No, 17A, Jebba Street, West Ebute Meta, Ilogbo Bus-stop, Apapa, Road, Lagos State, to watch a documentary on the 100 years journeys of the church. On November 3, there will be a National Thanksgiving service, and all our branches will be represented. The thanksgiving service will hold at our church headquarters in Lagos, No. 40, John Street, Oke-Arin, Lagos.

“We will also unveil a plaque where the names of the clergy who headed the church at various times will be written in gold. It is noteworthy to state here that the Centenary Lay President, Dr. Akinola Ogunlewe, has contributed the growth and development of the church. He has built on the successes of his predecessors. He is focusing on reaching out to other parts of the country and countries in West Africa.”
