- Etche ethnic nationality endorses governor for second term

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must form a united front after the December 9 national convention to help salvage the country from her present predicament.
The governor also emphasised that he would never be a party to anything that would lead to the disintegration of the PDP.
Wike spoke yesterday at the state Government House Port Harcourt when he granted audience to a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP and national chairmanship aspirant, Chief Olabode George.
The governor maintained that the national convention is a family affair, and advised all aspirants to accept the verdict of the delegates.
He said: “As we agreed in Enugu, whoever wins, let us come out from the national convention stronger.
“If we don’t get it right now that Nigerians are yearning for the party, we should as well say goodbye.â€
The governor noted that all aspirants and stakeholders must bear in mind that power comes from God.
Wike said: “I will do everything humanly possible to strengthen the PDP because we have nowhere else to go. We will do everything to ensure a free and fair national convention.â€
Earlier, Former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, George, said he was in the zone as part of his preparation towards the national convention.
He informed the state governor that he met with zonal leaders of the party in Port Harcourt ahead of the convention.
Meanwhile, the people of Etche ethnic nationality in the state have endorsed Wike for second term.
The leaders and traditional rulers of the area said they were taking the decision in recognition of Wike’s outstanding delivery of projects in Etche Land.
They declared that the people of Etche are satisfied with the attention given to them by the administration of Wike in the numerous projects and appointments to their credit.
Speaking at the Government House Port Harcourt yesterday during a thank you/solidarity visit, President-General of Ogbakor Etche, Sir Machy Nwodim, commended the governor for the construction of key roads in the area.
He said: “The gate-way road of Etcheland, Igwuruta-Chokocho road was fixed and opened up to the state capital. This is the pointer that you are a friend of Etche nation and the Mr. Project of Rivers State.
“Three major roads have also been reconstructed/constructed and inaugurated which are Chokocho-Igboh-Rumukwurushi; Chokocho-Umuechem-Abara-Ozuzu roads and the construction of the Ulakwo-Afara-Nihi major link road.â€
Responding, Wike assured all ethnic nationalities that his administration would continue to execute projects in their respective communities.
He said the people of Etche played a key role in his emergence as governor, noting that they would benefit from more projects and appointments.
