Groups Fault FG’s Approach to Crisis Situations

Groups at a parley to commemorate the International Day of Peace have faulted the‎ approach to maintaining the peace or reacting to crisis situations by the federal government, groups as well as individuals in Nigeria.

The groups stated that instead of carefully identifying and responding to challenges, Nigerians only react when the situation had already got out of hand.

The event with the theme: “Together For Peace: Respect ‎and Dignity For All” was organised by Youth and Students for Peace in Bauchi to deliberate on issues of conflicts and peace building by various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs) as well as youths groups, students and other stakeholders.

Speaking during the opening ceremony over the weekend, the group’s Director, Mr. Idowu Amusa, said that Nigerians must be conscious of the fact that there is no alternative to living in peace with one another as there would be no progress without peace.

He added that Nigeria is a country of strategic importance not only in Africa but all over the world because of its enormous potentials which include both human and natural endowments.
