De Image Fashion Gives Back  to Society

At a time when unemployment rate has risen to almost 14 per cent, popular fashion centre in the heart of Lagos, De-image Creation and Fashion Institute has offered to lift the society with its empowerment programme targeted at the youth population.

The centre which is presently running a training programme on tailoring and related skills at no extra cost, urged the public, residing within and outside Lagos take advantage of the rare  opportunity geared towards self independence.

Speaking to journalists, the Chief Executive  Officer of the institute, Mrs. Temilola Akintayo, noted that the institute had planned to empower not less than 200 persons annually, however, there are  rooms for more committed individuals who have passion for the vocation.

She said that her interest to invest in the society stemmed from rising moral decadence in the country which she believed was as a result of unemployment and poverty.

“We cannot contest the fact that a lot of unemployed talents are out there wasting away, but we are trying to address this in our own little way which of course is worth more than millions. By doing this,we are complementing government efforts  to reduce the effects of  economic challenges. We all know government alone cannot solve the problems of this country,” Akintayo said.

It is on this note that the multiple award-winning firm is calling on privileged individuals, corporate organisations and the government to support the cause, whereby more people can benefit from the programme.

“As much as the training programme comes at no cost,we still expect participants to  possess training materials of which not many of them cannot afford , besides, upon completion of the programme, our joy is to see them launch out in the market so they can put to practice the knowledge they have acquired for a year and more, while also earning a living.

“That is why we go as far as equipping our trainees with sewing machine and other relevant tools once they complete the course. But we need support from all angles to spread this gesture and touch more lives. We also cannot do it alone,” she noted.

She also urged government to motivate small and medium enterprises in the country by making available and simplifying  access to considerable credit facilities that will drive business expansion.

She informed that the centre will be graduating its first set of empowerment.

The first set of beneficiaries of the empowerment exercise will be graduating in October, while interested participants are therefore advised to start applying for the new session.
