Armed Robbers Kill Three, Escape with Loot in Imo
Amby Uneze in Owerri
Three persons were caught with a stray bullet in Owerri Municipal Council, following gun shots they received from fleeing suspected armed Robbers who robbed an Aide of a member of the Imo State House of Assembly.
The robbers were trailing their target when they shot indiscriminately and suddenly they shot a tricycle rider who unconsciously blocked their route to get hold to their target along School road by MCC as well as other two victims who were hit by their bullet.
Also wounded was a personal Assistant to a member of Imo State House of Assembly whom they robbed of an undisclosed amount of money which he apparently withdrew for his boss from an undisclosed bank in the state capital.
While the gunmen numbering four who operated in a Siena vehicle killed a tricycle operator at school road by MCC Junction, the dare devil hoodlums killed a passerby at Tetlow road, after they failed to kill a police man who was on duty on the street.
An eyewitness told THISDAY that one of the scenes of the killing at school read by MCC Junction, that the Robbers trailed the lawmaker’s aide to the point where they double crossed him and robbed him off the amount of money , suspected to be in a foreign currency.
“The armed Robbers numbering four doubled crossed the lawmaker’s personal Assistant who was driving a white Hilux. They went straight to where a bag that was apparently containing the money was. The aide tried to resist them, but they shot him in his hand,” the eyewitnesses said.
When THISDAY visited the scenes, two lifeless bodies were seen, with pool of their blood with heavy presence of policemen.
When contacted, the Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Andrew Enwerem confirmed the incident, but said he had yet to receive the full details officially.
He however said that the police were on top of the situation, adding “we are following the incident”.
