The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has affirmed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Court in a split judgment nullified the May 21, 2016 National Convention of the PDP, which dissolved the Sheriif-led executive of the party and elected a National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

With this judgment, the end to the PDP problems is not yet in sight. No thanks to those who foisted Ali-Modu Sheriff on the party.

A man fetches ant infested firewood, and is then surprised when he has lizards for his guests.

The immediate cause of this crisis is the immaturity, greed and selfishness (as is typical of Nigerian politicians) of Nyesom Wike and Ayo Fayose; and whoever else it is that thought handing the party reins to Sherriff was a good idea.

The remote cause is the erosion of internal democracy in the party starting from the 2006/2007 primaries across all levels of the party – Aremu Obasanjo’s handwork and legacy.

Its only sad ’cause for what its worth a viable opposition is to the benefit of the country and even the ruling party.

      • Nkem

Aremu? Since 2007? I thought the reason they fenced him off from the corridor of power and even chased him out of the party was to get rid of his legacy and establish their own superior machinery in the party.

Is this PDP drama still going on?

    • kinsly

Yes, scene 2. Now we await the Supreme court. Makarfi will run there for sure ,with the support of Fayose the Poultry and Bullion van thief and his brother, Wike the thuggish thief.

And the beat goes on, with music provided by the unseen orchestra of the Certificateless One and his party with the acronym of an obsolete analgesic .

Paid hungry agent, no free money again. Try to safe yourself by getting a job.

      • Truetalk

if you are not the real hungry paid agent, why are you everywhere countering anyone that say something against your master APC?

  • Ohajianha Ozichukwu

This is unbelievable. Is this motor park judgment a way of these judges pacifying the grand commander of our republic? Well, my faith in God the Almighty has never allowed me to suffer frustration. So this so-called APC party believes that, with all their mis-governance, they will still remain in power by hook and crook. God forbid.

    • kinsly

Dont involve God please, is the APC the defendant or Plaintiff? Face the topic of the news article and stop displaying your dumb foolishness.

      • DIMEJI

        No mind those dumb guys
A proverb says “it is not a crime to fall as long as you don’t blame it on others ”

  • Daniel Obior

This is PDP simply paying for its stupidity. How on earth could a party in this modern age have decided to appoint Modu Sheriff, of all maggots, as chairman of a party? Dumb and dangerous.

    • Nkem

It is Jonathan’s boys that put him there. I can even venture to postulate that it was Jonathan that whispered to his boys (Wike, Fayose and Mimiko) to help him complete the Modu Sherrif rehabilitation that he (Jonathan) began just before he unexpectedly left Aso Rock.

  • caltu

PDP crisis deepens and their ability to provide the needed viable opposition dwindles. Can they close ranks, bury their useless ego and provide the needed opposition for our democracy to thrive. Who will hand over his future to a house bitterly and acrimoniously divided within. 2019 is becoming a vain wish for PDP

    • Nkem

They do not need to close any ranks. They only need to get rid of the likes of Jerry Gana and all the other political entrepreneurs that deceived Jonathan and ultimately pushed him inside the very big pit that they dug for him.
