Contrary to the criticisms that trailed the dissolution of 16 local government councils in Kwara state, the state governor , Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, on Tuesday said that he dissolved them following their inability to meet their statutory responsibility to the electorate.
Also, he accused the chairmen of the affected councils of not embarking on any meaningful projects since they took over the mantle of leadership in their respective councils in the last three years.
Ahmed disclosed this in Ilorin on Tuesday in his justification of the dissolution of the affected councils he sent to the state house of assembly to informed it officially of his action.
The Governor said in his message read by the Deputy Speaker, Mathew Okedare, who presided over Tuesday’s plenary, that all the 16 councils failed in their responsibilities in the last year.
