OAU ‪Alumni Lauds FG On Resolution Of Crisis

The national leadership of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Great Ife Alumni Association, has lauded the federal government for the quick resolution of the crisis that rocked the institution on the controversies that greeted the process for the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor for the university.

The commendation was given at the National Executive Council meeting of the association held at Timsed Holiday Resorts, Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the NEC meeting of the association, the National President of the association, Mr. Segun Oke, said that the government’s intervention came at the appropriate time and has restored sanity to the university through the appointment of an Acting Vice Chancellor, in the person of Professor Anthony Adebolu Elujoba.

Oke, who expressed satisfaction on behalf of the entire members of the association on the choice of Professor Elujoba, maintained that the intervention has brought the 54years old institution on the track of progress and development.

Oke particularly thanked President Mohammadu Buhari for asking the University Senate to choose a man of integrity among them for appointment as the acting Vice Chancellor.

He said that by this, the Alumni believed that normalcy has been restored, workers of the university have returned to their duty immediately adding that all academic, technical, teaching and research activities will start in earnest.

He also congratulated the acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Anthony Elujoba, who is an Alumnus, on his new assignment, praying to God to give him the needed wisdom, knowledge and understanding to take OAU out of crisis.

He, therefore, pledged the unflinching support of the association to the new University’s helmsman, calling on all other stakeholders to rally round Professor Elijoba to take OAU to a much greater height.
