Inter Renew Interest in Okoye Ahead of Winter Transfer Window

Inter Milan have reportedly renewed their interest in signing Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Serie A champions have been monitoring the Nigerian international for some time following his impressive performances between the sticks for Udinese.

Inter Milan first expressed interest in signing the Super Eagles goalkeeper during the last summer transfer window following his impressive performances for Udinese.

Okoye enjoyed a remarkable campaign, keeping ten clean sheets and conceding just 30 goals in 32 appearances despite a difficult start to the season.

In total, Okoye has recorded 21 clean sheets in 85 appearances across all competitions since joining the club from English club Watford in 2023.

According to Tuttomercatoweb via Il Messaggero Veneto, Inter Milan are monitoring Okoye’s situation amid the inconsistent performances of goalkeeper Josep Martinez.

Udinese have reportedly placed a €20 million price tag on the Nigerian international, although Inter are yet to open negotiations or submit an official offer for his signature.

Inter are assessing the situation as they consider securing Okoye’s services during the upcoming winter transfer window.

However, Udinese are confident of filling the potential void left by the Nigerian goalkeeper, with backup Polish goalkeeper Bartosz Mrozek viewed as a possible replacement.

Meanwhile, Udinese head coach Kosta Runjai  has sent a stern warning to Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, cautioning him that another costly error against Lecce could have consequences.

Okoye, who joined the Italian club from Watford in the summer of 2023, made a mistake that condemned Udinese to defeat against Torino.

Speaking ahead of today’s clash against Lecce, Runjai revealed that he had reprimanded the Nigerian international following his costly error against Torino.

“A coach must use clear words with his players and I did on this occasion too,” Runjaić said to Udinese’s official webpage.

The Udinese manager added that the Nigerian international was fully aware that his costly mistake contributed to the team’s defeat at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

“He is well aware that his decision led to us conceding a goal. You make many decisions throughout a match, and that was a bad one,” he revealed.

Runjaić added that the Nigerian goalkeeper could rank among the five best goalkeepers in Serie A if he consistently gave his best.

“If he gives it everything he’s got, Okoye is one of the five top goalkeepers in Serie A. We work a lot with him.”
