David Wej Launches New Luxury Line

Nigerian fashion brand David Wej has launched a new luxury line, David Wej Signature, in Lekki, Lagos, expanding its menswear offerings with premium fabrics and refined tailoring.

The line features fabrics sourced from the UK, Japan and Italy, with the brand collaborating with high-end mills, including Loro Piana, Drago, Brown Aaron and Kerry Knoll. Its offerings include suits and jackets, available in ready-to-wear and made-to-measure options.

The Windsor Cord, for instance, is made from fabrics sourced from Manchester and tailored in the tradition of British corporate dressing.

Founder and Creative Director Adedayo Eweje said the line was conceived to elevate the brand’s luxury offerings by focusing on fabric quality, detailing and craftsmanship.

“The idea behind the collaboration is I’m trying to create a luxury line for David Wej, and looking at one of the best forms of luxury, you have to consider the fabric, you have to consider the buttons and other accessories, and you have to also consider the craftsmanship. So one of the things we’ve done is we’ve given a full canvas and half canvas construction for suits. They are available in ready-to-wear and made-to-measure,” he said.

Speaking about the Nigerian market, Eweje said he felt a strong personal connection to it, adding that Nigerian consumers understood quality and craftsmanship.

“Of course I’m a Nigerian, and I’ve seen that Nigerians understand what quality is. They understand craftsmanship, they understand true luxury. So it means a lot to me,” he said.

Eweje also claimed that Nigeria ranked third globally in luxury shopping, behind Arab and Asian consumers. His ranking was based on his observation of the happenings in the luxury space.

Founded in 2008, David Wej has stores in London and other locations. The new line extends the brand’s focus on menswear with an emphasis on premium fabrics and construction.
