KDU to Launch 500m Kabba Devt FundAs sons, daughters head home

The Kabba Development Union (KDU) will launch a ₦500 million Kabba Development Fund at this year’s Kabba Day celebration, held under the royal patronage of His Royal Majesty, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Dele Owoniyi.

The theme for 2026: ‘Consolidating Peace and Strategically Mobilizing Resources for Sustainable Development in Kabba’ speaks to a conviction shared across the kingdom: peace is the foundation, but development only happens when a community pools its resources and puts them to work.

The Kabba Development Fund, with a target of ₦500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira), will support critical development projects within the community. The KDU is calling on indigenes at home and abroad, corporate organisations and friends of Kabba to back it.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Dr. Olorunmowaju Oluwafemi, said: “We have talked about Kabba’s potential for a long time. The Kabba Development Fund is how we turn that talk into roads, classrooms and opportunities our young people can see and touch. Every contribution, big or small, counts.”

Oba, Dele Owoniyi, said: “Peace has given us a firm place to stand. Now we must build on it together. I urge every son and daughter of Kabba to support this Fund and help write the next chapter of our story.”

Festivities open with a Gala Night on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m, bringing together indigenes, investors, public officials and partners of the community.

The Grand Finale follows on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Kabba Township Stadium, with cultural displays, masquerades, traditional drumming and dance, and the formal launch of the Fund.
