Nine Years of ISWIS: From Podcast to Pan-African Entertainment Platform
Nine years ago, I Said What I Said began with two friends, two microphones and a willingness to say the things most people were thinking but wouldn’t say out loud. Today, it has grown into one of Nigeria’s most recognisable podcast brands and a live entertainment property with a growing international footprint.
Over nine years, the podcast has built hundreds of episodes and multiple seasons around conversations on relationships, adulthood, money, work, culture and the everyday experiences of a generation of Nigerians and Africans. That consistency has helped create an audience that does not simply listen to ISWIS, but identifies with it.
By going from studio to stage – not just in Nigeria but across other Countries, I Said What I Said has hosted thousands of young people at it’s live shows. While Ghana, Manchester & Dublin audiences have featured in previous ISWIS Live Show Tour2026 marked a record as ISWIS has taken its annual Live Shows on Tour to seven cities so far: Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Houston, with audiences ranging from 500 to 1,500 people per show.
For a Nigerian podcast, this represents more than audience growth. It demonstrates the potential to build a Nigerian-born media property that can travel, sell tickets and create meaningful communities across international markets.
The ISWIS live experience has become an important extension of the podcast itself, transforming an audience that traditionally consumed the show through their phones and headphones into a physical community that turns up, buys tickets and participates in the conversation.
The opportunity ahead is therefore bigger than podcasting.
ISWIS sits at the intersection of media, entertainment, community and live experiences, with the ability to connect audiences across Nigeria and the diaspora. Its annual international touring model provides a platform for brand partnerships, experiential activations, content creation and new revenue opportunities, while its loyal audience offers partners an increasingly valuable way to reach young, culturally engaged consumers.
Nine years in, I Said What I Said has proven that a Nigerian conversation can travel.
The next chapter is about just how far it can go.
