MFM Ends Zenith Bank League’s Atlantic Conference Phase 1 Unbeaten

Two-time winner of the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women Basketball League, MFM Women Basketball team, has laid down the gauntlet as they look forward to win back the title they lost to Dolphins last season after ending the First Phase of the Atlantic Conference unbeaten.
The phase was concluded on Saturday with MFM beating record holder of the league, First Bank, 62-37 points in the final game played at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Also on Saturday, Bayelsa Blue Whales defeated IGP Queens 69-32 points with Victoria Queens maintaining their surprise run in the league, defeating First Deep Water 65-49 points to record their sixth victory with their only loss coming against MFM.
The other game saw defending champion Dolphins losing yet another game, as they were defeated by Royal Aces 49-39 points.
MFM top the conference with seven wins with Victoria Queens in second position with six victories and one loss while First Bank trailed in third with five wins and two losses.
Bayelsa Blue Whales occupied the fourth position with four wins and three losses with Royal Aces just a position behind after winning three games from seven played.
Defending champion Dolphins are in sixth position with just two wins as First Deep Water followed with just a victory and six losses.
Police team, IGP Queens’ failure to win a game see them maintaining the last position on the log as the teams prepare for the Second Phase in Port Harcourt in September.
Meanwhile, the Savannah Conference will end today in Jos with Customs leading the pack ahead of Aso Queens and Air Warriors.
