300 Students Benefits from Monday Onyeme Foundation Scholarship

A total of 301 undergraduates from different institutions of higher learning at the weekend smiled as they emerged winners of the Monday Onyeme Scholarship scheme for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

Under the scholarship scheme, each of the beneficiaries would receive a minimum of N200,000 each, having successfully scaled the aptitude test organised for the applicants held at the Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.

The annual scholarship scheme is sponsored by Sir (Dr.) Monday Onyeme, who is the deputy governor of Delta State.

Addressing the students, Onyeme, sponsor of annual scholarship scheme and who supervised the aptitude test, said that the scheme was designed to encourage and support undergraduates from Delta North Senatorial District.

According to him, “for this year’s scholarship scheme, six hundred and fifty (650) undergraduates from Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency were shortlisted for the aptitude test, four hundred and seventy-four (474) candidates appeared and sat for the test, while a total of three hundred and one (301) candidates passed.”

While congratulating the successful applicants, Onyeme said, “What we witnessed today is an improvement on what we witnessed last year, and for this year, eight persons will be taken from successful students from each ward in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

“Also, all successful students will get N200,000 each; the top scorer from Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency will get an additional N200,000, while the candidates in second and third place will get an additional N150,000 each.”

He disclosed that candidates from Ika Federal Constituency would take their turn for the aptitude test on the next day.

Miss Ubaka Treasure from Aniocha South Ward 4, scored 45 marks to emerge as the top scorer from Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, while Ubaka Daniel, who is from Aniocha North, and Ojenuwa Chukwueme, from Oshimili South, scored 44 to finish in joint second place.

The top scorer, Ubaka Treasure, a student of International Relations from Admiralty University, Ibusa, thanked God and the Monday Onyeme Foundation for kind gesture.
