NGO Pledges to Promote Transparency, Accountability in Governance

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Prof. Razaq ‘Deremi Abubakre Progressive Initiative, has pledged to consistently advocate transparency, accountability, and fairness in governance at all levels.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the organisation’s secretariat, named ‘Professor Razaq ‘Deremi Abubakre Progressive Initiative Hall’, the Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Yekini Abilagbo, said the group would also promote understanding, peace, and tolerance among communities within the Iwo federal constituency.

Abilagbo explained that the newly registered organisation was established to serve as a platform for dialogue between leaders and the people on issues affecting development, growth, and unity across Iwoland.

According to him, the Initiative also aims to identify, mentor, and develop future leaders with integrity, competence, and service-oriented values from the three local government areas in the constituency-Ayedire, Iwo, and Ola-Oluwa.

He added that the organisation would support ethical leadership, social justice, and sustainable development in communities across Iwoland.

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Gbadebo Rahim Adekunle, stated that the Initiative would collaborate with civil society organisations, traditional institutions, and government agencies to promote grassroots development in the area.

Adekunle noted that the organisation would also promote civic education, ethical norms, peaceful coexistence, solidarity, dignity of labour, and self-respect among youths, women, and community members.

He further stressed that the Initiative was designed to uphold ethical standards, discipline, and respect for the rule of law in all its activities throughout Iwoland.

According to him, the group would continue to support policies and leadership that prioritise education, healthcare, security, and economic empowerment across the three local government areas.

The event, which attracted community leaders and stakeholders, was described as a significant milestone in advancing progressive ideals and strengthening commitment to community development in Iwoland.
