ATCON, LASIMRA Hold Cleanup Exercise to Enhance Public Safety

The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) and the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), will be holding a cleanup exercise in Lagos, aimed at promoting environmental sanity, improving public safety, and ensuring orderly telecommunications infrastructure deployment within Lagos State.

The cleanup exercise, which is an initiative of LASIMRA, has the full backing of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the telecoms industry regulator.

Chairman, Cleanup Committee, ATCON, Mr. Segun Okuneye, said the pilot scheme for the cleanup exercise would commence on May 12, 2026, from Emina Crescent Junction, Toyin Street, Ikeja.
According to him, the following categories of members — Internet Service Providers, Mobile Network Operators, and Cable Infrastructure Companies — are expected to be present at the announced location by 9:00 a.m.

Okuneye admonished all technical staff participating in the exercise to ensure they wear the appropriate safety gear and strictly adhere to all safety guidelines throughout the operation.

“The exercise is aimed at promoting environmental sanity, improving public safety, and ensuring orderly telecommunications infrastructure deployment within Lagos State.

Telecommunications operators remain committed to maintaining the aesthetics of Lagos State and supporting initiatives that promote a cleaner, safer, and more organized environment,” Okuneye said.
Executive Secretary of ATCON, Mr. Ajibola Olude, called on all stakeholders to cooperate fully to ensure the success of the initiative.
