How fear, faith shaped my decision to manage Kizz Daniel — Louiza Williams

Talent manager, Louiza Williams, has opened up on the emotional and career-defining journey that led her to managing Nigerian music star, Kizz Daniel, describing the decision as one rooted in fear, faith and purpose.

Williams, who previously worked with singer Waconzy, said accepting the role to manage the then-emerging artiste under G-Worldwide Entertainment remains one of the most significant decisions of her life.

In a personal reflection shared recently, the talent manager recounted how industry stakeholders repeatedly recommended her name to the label at a time when expectations around the artiste’s future were already high.

According to her, the pressure almost made her reject the opportunity.

“At the time, too many people were recommending me to the label. Industry voices, media personalities, executives. My name was moving in rooms I wasn’t even present in,” she said.

Louiza Williams admitted that despite her previous successes, she battled intense self-doubt over the possibility of managing an emerging act whose future was uncertain.

“I kept asking myself, ‘What if he doesn’t blow? What will people say about me? Will it redefine my credibility?’” she stated.

She revealed that her fears deepened after learning that some notable industry figures had previously worked with the artiste before her.

“That question shook me. Not because I lacked ability, but because I suddenly felt the weight of comparison, history and expectation,” she added.

Louiza noted that her earlier work with Waconzy, particularly during the success of the hit track I Celebrate (Iwoririwo), had earned her credibility within the entertainment industry and contributed to the recommendations she received.

She further disclosed that during her first meeting with Emperor Geezy, the founder and CEO of G-Worldwide Entertainment, she openly expressed her fears about taking on the responsibility of managing an upcoming artiste.

However, she said Geezy’s response eventually changed her perspective.

“He told me, ‘Louiza, you will not regret this. I promise you. I will do everything to make sure this artist succeeds. If it requires me selling whatever I have to make sure he becomes successful, I will do it,’” she recalled.

According to Louiza, the conversation stayed with her long after the meeting ended.

Seeking further clarity, she said she reached out to a Lagos-based disc jockey identified as DJ Preppy, who listened to Kizz Daniel’s breakout single Woju and encouraged her to proceed.

“He told me I had everything it takes and that I shouldn’t be scared,” she said.

Louiza Williams also sought the opinion of the founder of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in New York by sending him the song and the artiste’s photo without revealing her intentions.

“The response was simple. The song was good, the artist was young, and the potential was real,” she explained.

Beyond industry validation, Williams said she eventually turned to prayer before making her final decision.

“I went to God not with strategy or ambition, but with surrender. I asked Him to lead me if this was truly my purpose,” she said.

After accepting the role, Louiza Williams said the label gave her the freedom and support needed to execute her vision.

“We built the structure, formed the team, and I was given the space to lead and create,” she noted.

She added that the success of the project later led to another opportunity when she was asked to manage label artiste Sugarboy.

Reflecting on the experience, she said the journey helped her realise that her role in the industry extends beyond talent management.

“I discovered I am not just a manager. I am a builder, a developer and a shaper of careers,” she said.

According to her, the decision ultimately transformed not just her career path but also her outlook on fear, purpose and destiny.

“That ‘yes’ didn’t just change a project. It changed my direction, my vision and my life,” she added.
