The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has grown its membership from 20 to 400.
This was disclosed by the President of NBCC, Mr. Abimbola Olashore, during the induction ceremony for its new members.
He said: “Membership has grown from about 20 people, and we are now about 400.
“We are an international affiliate of the British Chamber of Commerce, which gives us access to a network of 53 chambers of commerce across the United Kingdom, and 71 other international affiliates across the world.”
He explained that the chamber’s mission is to be the foremost channel of trade and commerce between Nigeria and Britain.
“Our mission will continually be to encourage and promote inter-denominational trade relations between the two countries.
“So, we are all about trade facilitation, we are all about influencing policy, we are all about networking, and we are also all about communicating government policies on both sides through advocacy.
“We are all about deepening networking opportunities, and as you join us, you will see that it is hardly any other week that we don’t have a program here at the chamber.
“I will encourage you to really plod into all our committees.
“You will get from the chamber what you put into it.
“So, we will give you visibility on both sides, both in Nigeria and the UK because the chamber was established to promote exclusive bilateral business and trade activities between Nigeria and the UK,” Olashore said.
He, however, emphasised that the NBCC is not a city chamber and is best suited for sorting out hindrances to trade with the UK government.
“So, I am repeating that we are here to increase trade between Nigeria and the UK.
“We are here to advise the governments of both countries on matters of bilateral trade relations.
“We are there to also talk about the problems, legislative or otherwise, arising from the pursuit of trade between Nigeria and the UK,” he said.
