EKSU Deepens International Outlook as 30th Convocation Spotlights Global Linkages, Academic Growth

The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), has reaffirmed its commitment to internationalisation and institutional growth, as it commences activities marking its 30th convocation ceremony.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Senate Chamber, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ayodele, said the institution is actively pursuing global partnerships aimed at widening academic exposure for staff and students.
He said that the university is currently engaging stakeholders in the western world, with several MoUs in progress to formalise collaborations that will enhance research, teaching and learning opportunities.
Ayodele explained that the convocation period provides a strategic platform not only to celebrate graduating students, but also to showcase EKSU’s developmental strides and future direction, particularly in strengthening global relevance.
He also stressed that staff welfare remains his administration’s priority, saying that promotions are handled promptly for eligible personnel in line with due process.
As part of the convocation programme, Ayodele disclosed that the lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, will be delivered by Ayodeji Omole. The lecture, titled ‘Power, Responsibility and Stewardship: Balancing the Barricade with Governance’, will hold at the university’s main auditorium.
Other activities lined up for the week include a convocation play, an evening session with the vice-chancellor, awards for excellence in research and sports, as well as a debate, convocation meeting, and alumni dinner.
The institution will also confer first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s and doctoral degrees on graduating students, with the main award ceremonies scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
About 11,000 graduates are expected to be awarded various qualifications during the ceremony.
In addition, the university will confer honorary Doctor of Finance on distinguished alumni, including Abayomi Adeyeri and Akinsanmi Falaki, in recognition of their contributions ttowards the development of the institution and their professional achievements. The honours, according to the university, were approved by the Senate and Governing Council.
The VC explained that the convocation ceremony will feature series of academic, social and ceremonial engagements designed to highlight the university’s achievements over the years.
He added that the convocation represents a milestone in EKSU’s history, reflecting its steady progress in academic excellence, institutional stability, and its growing ambition to compete favourably on the global stage.
The 30th convocation ceremony is expected to attract alumni, stakeholders and dignitaries from within and outside the country.
