Senator Remi Tinubu Wife of New Inspector General of Police, Urges Support for Welfare of Police Officers’ Families

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has received the Wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Mutiat Disu, at the State House, Abuja, where she urged her to continue to ensure the welfare of the wives of police officers across the country.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, focused on collaboration and support for programmes aimed at improving the well being of police families, particularly women.

Speaking after the meeting, Wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Mutiat Disu, stated that she is ready to continue to take advantage of the various programmes by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to empower police officers’ wives across the country.

Mrs. Disu, who is also the National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), said she has learnt more from the First Lady during their interactions, adding that she would leverage on the RHI programmes to improve the health, welfare and empowerment of POWA members.

“The purpose of visiting her is to tap from her wealth of experiences and to know about programs she has for the masses, to see how the POWA can benefit from the programs”.

“I have learnt so much from her within this short period the I have spoken with her, and I am sure by the time I start working with her, my people will benefit more from the RHI programs. We will be looking at the RHI social intervention and healthcare for police families too”.

“What the people should expect from me is that I am ready to work with Mama on this RHI as it affects our women since the RHI is basically for women and POWA is dominated by women”.

Mrs. Mutiat Disu took over the mantle of leadership of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) after the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, replaced Kayode Egbetokun on February 24, 2026.
