Transcorp Power Pupil Crowned Overall Winner in Delta Maths Contest

Transcorp Power Plc, one of the power subsidiaries of Africa’s leading listed conglomerate has announced that Etagbedavwe Amwarha, a pupil of Transcorp Power School, has emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Delta State Primary School Mathematics Competition.

The achievement reflects Transcorp Power’s commitment to educational excellence and community development in its host communities.

The competition, organised by the Delta State Government, tested mathematical aptitude across three stages. In the first stage, 172 pupils participated simultaneously across their respective Local Government Areas. Following the initial round, 41 pupils from the Delta Central Senatorial District advanced to the second stage. The field was then narrowed to eight finalists from across the state, who convened in Asaba for the grand finale.

Competing against top pupils statewide, Etagbedavwe Amwarha of Transcorp Power School emerged as the overall winner.
Commenting on the achievement, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Power Plc, Peter Ikenga, said the company remains committed to supporting education and youth development.

He noted that the company’s responsibility extends beyond power generation to fostering growth in its host communities, adding that investments in education will continue to be a priority.

Similarly, the Principal of Transcorp Power School, Mrs Emeji Okeoghene, described the victory as a collective achievement for the school’s teachers, pupils, and the support provided by Transcorp Power Plc.

Etagbedavwe Amwarha expressed gratitude to his parents, teachers, and the company for providing an enabling environment for his success, noting that the achievement motivates him to work harder.
The company said the victory reflects its broader commitment to community development across the Niger Delta through various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, including VSTEEP, the Transcorp Ignite Internship Programme, and its partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, which has supported over 1,200 entrepreneurs.
Transcorp Power Plc stated it will continue to support Nigeria’s energy transition, improve grid reliability, and contribute to national development while delivering value to shareholders.
