LSSTF Executive Secretary, Ogunsan Visits IGP Disu, Applauds Welfare Drive and Reforms

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has commended the leadership style, welfare initiatives, and reform agenda of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Ogunsan, who paid the visit on Tuesday, described the appointment of IGP Disu as a significant turning point for policing in Nigeria, expressing confidence in the Police chief’s capacity to strengthen professionalism and institutional standards within the Force.

During the meeting, he noted that “the name Disu is synonymous with excellence, discipline, and high standards in policing.” 

He added that the IGP’s emergence is widely regarded as a strategic development, bringing years of sterling service and commendable personal qualities to the forefront of national security leadership.

The LSSTF boss particularly praised the Inspector General’s people focused leadership style, especially his commitment to improving the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force. 

He cited the recent presentation of N2.4 billion in cheques to families of fallen officers as a profound demonstration of compassion and institutional responsibility.

According to him, such gestures significantly boost morale within the Force and reinforce confidence among personnel, while also strengthening the bond between leadership and rank and file officers.

Dr. Ogunsan also applauded the ongoing reform initiatives under the leadership of IGP Disu, describing them as bold and forward looking steps toward repositioning the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and public trust.

He further commended the prompt promotion of 84 senior officers, including the new 13 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs), noting that steady professional growth is something that spurs every officer to greater works.

Highlighting the broader impact of the reforms, Dr. Ogunsan underscored the renewed emphasis on professionalism, accountability, and exemplary policing leadership, as well as the strengthened commitment to discipline across ranks, as critical steps toward rebuilding public trust and enhancing operational effectiveness within the Force.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to sustaining its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in supporting modern policing infrastructure and community based security initiatives aimed at improving safety and security across Nigeria.

In his response, Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the consistent support of the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF to policing efforts.

He reiterated his resolve to prioritise personnel welfare, deepen institutional reforms, and strengthen discipline within the Nigeria Police Force, assuring Nigerians of improved safety and security nationwide.
