Natasha Oyibo Leads Arieli Foundation’s Global Advocacy at UN’s CSW70
The Arieli Foundation for Maternal and Child Health has continued to advance its mission of reducing maternal and child mortality through community engagement and global advocacy with its recent participation at the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at the United Nations.
The Foundation’s Executive Director, Dr. Natasha Oyibo, represented the organisation at CSW70 at the United Nations, where global leaders, policymakers, and development partners gathered to address critical issues affecting women and girls worldwide. During the session, key discussions focused on breaking financial barriers, advancing women’s leadership, and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Oyibo actively engaged in high-level dialogues, including strategic conversations at the African Union Permanent Observer Mission, contributing to discussions on women’s political participation and equitable access to resources. She also participated in an NGO/CSW high-level briefing, where global leaders emphasized the urgent need for partnerships and coordinated action to drive meaningful change in women’s health and empowerment.
Reflecting on the experience, Oyibo noted that the conversations at CSW70 reinforced the importance of linking grassroots realities with global policy frameworks.
“Our work at the community level must continue to inform global strategies, while international commitments must translate into tangible impact for women and children on the ground,” she stated.
This is coming at a time when the foundation is putting finishing touches to its annual Maternal and Child Health Walk, a community-driven initiative aimed at raising awareness on the urgent need for accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for women and children.
The walk, according to the Foundation’s management, is expected to bring together healthcare professionals, community leaders, women, families, and advocates, creating a powerful platform to amplify grassroots voices and emphasise preventive health practices, maternal wellbeing, and child survival. The event will also serve as a call to action for stronger collaboration between communities, policymakers, and stakeholders in improving health outcomes.
The Arieli Foundation invites partners, stakeholders, and the public to anticipate and support this forthcoming initiative as part of a broader commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes across Nigeria and beyond.
The Arieli Foundation for Maternal and Child Health is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to reducing maternal and child mortality through advocacy, community outreach, health education, and strategic partnerships.
