Twinkul Beauty Academy, a leading institution for beauty education, has held its maiden graduation ceremony for the 2026 Batch A students in Lagos.

A total of 34 beauty professionals, six men and 28 women, received certificates at the event, sponsored by DPKay Groups.

Founder, Dr. Mary Charles, expressed pride in the academy’s milestone, applauding the graduands for their dedication and excellence.

The ceremony celebrated the graduates’ achievements and marked the beginning of their professional journeys in the beauty and wellness sector.

In her speech, Dr. Charles recounted her journey in the beauty industry, which began over 25 years ago. She stated that her passion for helping people feel confident and empowered drove her to establish the academy. “Beauty is transformation. It is confidence restored. It is identity expressed. It is strength revealed from the inside out,” she emphasized.

The academy, which offers training in various aspects of beauty, including esthetics, makeup, and skincare, has also introduced innovative programs such as permanent makeup and microblading to Nigeria. Dr. Charles revealed that the institution has produced skilled professionals who have gone on to win awards and recognition.

“Over the past months, I have watched you grow. I have seen hesitation turn into confidence. I have seen practice turn into precision. I have seen passion turn into purpose. That transformation is why today is so meaningful,” Dr. Charles said, highlighting the growth and development of the graduands during their time at the academy.

The academy is also proud of its recruitment agency, Twinkul Beauty Recruitment Agency, which is the first beauty recruitment agency in Nigeria. The agency has provided employment opportunities for the academy’s students in top spas across the country.

Dr. Charles urged the graduands to remember that they are not just beauty professionals, but also entrepreneurs, artists, and confidence builders. “Skill will open doors. Consistency will keep them open. Character will make you unforgettable,” she advised.

The event was sponsored by Prince Dele Akinola, CEO of DPKAY GROUPS and Patron of Celestial Church of Christ KOK Parish, who was commended for his support and belief in the academy’s vision. Dr. Charles expressed her gratitude, saying, “You have not just given a skill through empowerment, you have given them a voice in Nigeria, a universal recognition and a life time opportunity.”

The graduands’ families and friends were also recognized for their encouragement and support, which contributed to the students’ success. Dr. Charles expressed her pride in the graduands, stating that they are the foundation of the academy and will always hold a special place in its history.

Representing Chief Executive Officer DPKAY International Group, Dele Akinola, Yomi Kuti, encouraged the graduates to do better than their teachers, saying, “If somebody will put up a brain to train you earn so much money for it, you can do better”.

Akinola, who was the Chairman of the valedictory added, “Be more committed. Show gratitude, show humanity wherever you go. And of course, your beauty can get to the gate, but your character keeps you there.”

Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Beauty in Lagos, Ezinne Alfa, emphasised the value and complexity of the beauty industry, urging graduates to take pride in their craft.

Alfa highlighted that the beauty industry is often misunderstood, with many people overlooking the knowledge, discipline, and expertise required to excel in the field.

“Regardless of where you started, you are all graduating today with something valuable in common: a commitment to improving your craft,” Alfa said.

She stressed that beauty is not just about aesthetics, but also about science, hygiene, and wellbeing.

“Beauty is service: Every day, beauty professionals work closely with people. Clients trust you with their appearance, their confidence, and sometimes even their insecurities,” Alfa added, noting the importance of the trust placed in beauty professionals.

Speaking on behalf of her fellow graduates, Mercy Okoro expressed heartfelt gratitude for the enriching experience she received at the academy.

Okoro described the training as “detailed, hands-on, and inspiring,” saying it had equipped her with practical skills, confidence, and discipline.

She emphasised that the academy had taught her the value of excellence, patience, and professionalism, and had instilled in her a deeper understanding of the beauty industry.

The graduates also expressed their sincere appreciation to DPKay Groups for sponsoring the program, acknowledging the impact of their support on creating opportunities for students to pursue their careers in beauty.
